If any one is inclined: franboy and I are signed up to do the Foundation for Fighting Blindness' Vision Walk at the end of May. Do NOT feel obligated to donate. I get that you can't give money to every Tom, DIck and fran that comes along.

Like so many others, I respond to [livejournal.com profile] ropo 's clarion call to post the minutiae of my life. Dig in, people!

Today is my student worker's last day. She does stuff for the whole floor, so, I collected money for treats and bought a card, doughnuts, bagels and coffee. And had money left over. Everyone loves her. I gave the left over cash to her. I had an extra $32.00 and change. I could have bought tons more food! Or, you know, gone out for lunch.  :)

Tonight, my plan is to go home. That 's it. *Tomorrow*, however, I've got a massage at 5. Oh, happy day! Earlier in the day, I may go to a seminar on trapping stray cats and taking them to the humane society for spay/neutering. Also, I need to go get groceries at some point. And Sunday, Scrabble in the evening! I hope I'm not exhausting you with my whirlwind life style.

Has anyone noticed I'm not double spacing between my sentences? I've decided it's a waste of time, clicking the space bar twice. Sorry, hard liners.

Yes, it's Friday. Best day of the week.

The boy is home today sick - no doubt coming down with the nasty cold that I've got. Stupid cold!

Anyone with an iPod -- ever have a problem where your iPod will just stop synching? I can copy over a couple songs from iTunes to the pod, but then everything stops. Sometimes I get a message saying iTunes can't find my iPod. I've updated and reinstalled and yelled to no avail. The forums seem to think the pod is going bad. Tell me it's not true!

Instead of just spraining my ankle, it appears as if I've fractured my foot (Fifth metatarsal, very common, they said. Guess I should have gone to the doctor right away. Oh well.) Which is why it's still not better. Which means when I go to the Mall of America this weekend, I'm taking my cane and renting a scooter.

I'm hoping to run into someone else with a scooter and cane so that we can joust.

ETA: I am using my new UnHappyBaby icon. This is my niece, showing her angry face.

Did you know that there are only 210 calories in a regular Kit Kat candy bar? Awesome. That means half is only 105! Are you impressed yet with my math skills?

I've been counting calories. I want to lose 5 pounds. I never tried seriously before. It's hard! (whine). But, it worked! Last week I had lost 2 or 3 pounds. Exactly how much is hard to tell on my scale. Yesterday, however, I had gained it all back. Could it have been the cherry pie, apple crisp and frozen vanilla yogurt and the pineapple upside down cake with whipped cream I ate over the weekend?

No, I didn't think so either.

Yes, I mean you, anonymous.  :)

For the last 65 few minutes, I've been trolling a Stargate SG1 forum looking at pics. Dishes? Dirty. Christmas crap decorations? In need of boxing. Ditto the (fake) tree. And screw you, pieces of the dog's plush toy that have been ripped and flung all over the area rug. Apparently, you're there for the night.

Could be worse. Said dog's been fed. Huzzah!

Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] ropo  :

A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.
B) Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

Ok, like ropo, I'm not tagging anyone. So, do it if you like. Please? Ok then.

[livejournal.com profile] bcfan and I were thinking it would be fun to have a group chat to nitpick IWTB. Anyone? If you're interested, let me know what time is good. And what time zone you're in.

I wish it would stop colding out. It's very cold. When you start with minus degrees and then add the wind chill, it's very cold.

Ok, then. Moving on:

1. Post about something that made you happy today even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this every day for a week without fail.

Hmm. Let's see. So, today my happy thing will be... soup. I'm going to have soup for lunch today. It may seem like a small thing, but i like soup. Plus, it's warm, and even at work today it's chilly. So, soup it is!

Also ice cream. My friend T brought Breyer's Mint Chip ice cream over yesterday evening for my birthday treat. It's just about my favorite ice cream ever.

I'm very much looking forward to getting off work and going home. Not that that's news for me. But, I really don't have to do anything this evening except maybe wrap a few gifts and get franboy to wash the dishes. The rest of the time, I can wrap myself up in a blanket and read or watch TV. And drink hot drinks. Ahhhhh.

Yesterday I was out of town, so yeah, I broke rule number two and FAILED to post.  Bummer.

Today, here is the happy:

Franboy and I are on our way to Sheboygan (we'll stay over night at my mom's) tonight. My 10 yr old niece is singing with the Sheboygan Symphony tonight. She's got a solo part - she's the only child singing. So, that's my happy for today.

It's been a warmish, but grey, day out. The boy and I ran errands earlier and I did half of my weekend vacuuming. I'll have to do the rest tomorrow after we get back from Sheboygan. We'll also be stopping on the way back to look at boots for the boy. I almost hate to spend money on them. He's growing so fast that he won't be able to wear them long.

Something to make me happy today is deciding to take a trip to a warm place at the end of January. Possibly a cruise. Yay! After the holidays, the end of January will be just a few weeks away. And after the Warm Trip, it will be just a few weeks until March. Yes, March can still be a bitch in the upper Midwest, but you know you're on the way OUT. Yay again!

Franboy and I will be traveling an hour to my mom's for Christmas as per usual. ExMrfranman will meet us there. He's come every year since we separated. And my family and I have gone to his house for Thanksgiving. It works out well.

This year, we've all decided to not exchange gifts - just the kids will be getting something. This is more than fine with me. I wish we'd done it years ago. Most of the things I really want can't be bought - and if they can, they're way to expensive to ask for as a gift.  :)
OTOH, if someone were to make me certificates for housecleaning, I would gladly take those. So, if any of you are really scratching your heads as to what to get me this year, my vacuum awaits you.

Home Sick

I was home sickish today. franboy was home sick for two days this week with the flu. I hope what I've got doesn't go that far.

I watched TV, put cord caulk around some of the windows and put more foam stripping around the back doors because it's damn cold out.  A couple weeks ago I installed some plexiglass sheets on the outside of the 4 front windows of my flat. They seem to cut down on the drafts and I can see through them clearly.

I'm now uploading a php script that is supposed to help me search a mySQL database for a web site I'm creating. I've installed simple php scripts, but this is more than I've done before. I'm a bit overwhelmed. I may get some help this weekend, thank goodness, from my friend T who writes in SQL for work. And he knows a couple programming languages. So, that's good, because I know this much about programming.

I'm sharing a song (with permission) my upstairs tenant wrote and performed. Take it, it's yours! And if you like Mike's song, let me know and I'll pass it on to him.

Work? Very long and dull today. Busy, but boring.

I am resolved to buy a new sleeping bag. REI is having a sale this weekend. The bag I have is great (Northface Cat's Meow), practically brand new and in colors I like. But, it zips on the left. I can't sleep on my left side because of my bleepin' sciatica. So, when I unzip the bag to cool off it's to my back. Dumb bag.

I also resolve to try to sell my current bag. Maybe I can get a few $$ for it. (It's brand new!!!!!!!)

Using the word 'resolved' makes me feel stalwart and determined.

Next week Thursday, games and pot luck at my place. 6 people are coming so far. I hope we have lots of good cooks in the group, because I'm a lousy one. :)

Last night, I dreamt that [livejournal.com profile] ropo and I switched faces. Yes, just the face. I kept checking my body to see if it was mine, and it was. For some reason, she couldn't use hers face anymore, so I volunteered to swap with her. I felt odd having another face, and sort of lost. Which, yeah, would be the case. I have no idea how That Slacker Girl felt, but when I saw my face on her, I thought she didn't look like me at all. She thought she absolutely looked like me. Whatever. :) She and I went out with our new faces to some kind of store where Suzanne Pleshette, wearing a pants suit, was the manager and some guy tried to sell me an alternative to my iPod.

The end. Back to what passes for normalcy.

I was dragged to our divisional end of summer picnic today by a co-worker. Yes, I told her several weeks ago I'd go with her, so, she had just cause. I just didn't feel like it today. I hardly *ever* feel like doing work social things. Big surprise. Anyway, I had a surprisingly pleasant time. The weather here has been beautiful for the last 10 days, so sitting outside eating a burger wasn't terrible. I even chatted with a few people. Plus, I was away from my desk for over an hour. Rah!

In other news, I really like this sweater.

Who wants to get it for me?
