Back from vacation, more on that later.
This is what's happening here.
We're making national news, too.
In a nutshell, the state of Wisconsin Gov. has proposed a bill to repair our budget. It includes large increases to what public employees will pay towards health care premiums and retirement. That takes some pressure off the state in terms of what it needs to pay towards those items. It also proposes to strip public employee unions of most of their negotiating rights.
I work for the state, at one of the universities. Most of us get that health premiums will go up and that we'll need to pay more toward retirement. If Walker had left it at that, I'm pretty sure we'd have swallowed it and moved on. What gets my goat is his gutting of union's rights to negotiate and the stripping of the right to unionize by some groups of public workers. Conveniently, law enforcement is not included in any of this. They are exempt.
It's been crazyish. Today, fran boy's school is closed due to a teacher 'sick out'. As a fellow public worker affected by the Gov. Walker's Budget Repair Bill, I say Go Them!.
Also, I am wrangling with Sears over a warranty issue concerning my vacuum cleaner. Took me weeks and left lots of unreturned messages to finally get through to someone. If I was a new customer, I'd think Sears was run by a bunch of noodle heads. Hell, maybe it is.
Now, to cheer myself up, I am posting this link of cute puppies running
