It's been a very long time since I visted LJ, and longer since I posted. In a nutshell, my husband and I separated last May and he bought a house a half mile away. The boy is taking it as well as I could hope. There is a lot less stress for both of us (a very good thing) and he sees his dad 2 nights a week and every other weekend. Basically, the Almost-Former-Mr.-Fran and I are on good terms. The boy started a Waldorf school in September. It's private, and is cosing $$, but, he's doing fairly well. The best thing is, he doesn't dread going to school everyday. We're having him evaluated for ADD and Learning Disabilities. I'm almost positive he has the latter.

Anyhoo...

I'm doing this meme I snagged from [livejournal.com profile] roseyniswitrin

[Unknown site tag]

1. When you looked at yourself in the mirror today, what was the first thing you thought?

Ugh.

2. How much cash do you have on you?

Oddly, about $20.00. I usually have almost none.

3. What word rhymes with "DOOR"

Four.

4. Favorite Planet?

Saturn. It has cool rings.

Naot.

10. Bright or dark room?

Depends on what I'm doing.

She's intriguing. In some ways, I don't think that we're much alike -- what this probably means is that I could learn a lot from her. :)

12. What does your watch look like?

Swiss Army. Black, with a rubber band helping to hold the strap down. Yes, I AM classy.

13. What were you doing at midnight last night?

Probably sleeping.

Hmm. Late 30's? My 40's aren't so bad either.

22. Your worst enemy?

Mr. Freeze.

23. What is your current desktop picture?

Sigh. Some generic MS thing.

24. What was the last thing you said to someone?

"Ok, bye." I'm at work.

25. If you had to choose between a million bucks or to be able to fly what would it be?

Flying all the way. I figure, if I really wanted to, I could make a few dollars flying for the circus or something.

43. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?

I let franboy buy a Matchbox at the store the other day and gave him cash for that.

44. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper and mailed it?

If sending into the state for forms counts, yesterday.

45. Can you change the oil on a car?

I let the mechanic do that.

Fran, it's good to see you! I am sorry to hear about you and FranMan, but it sounds like you are both in a good place about it, and that FranBoy is doing well. My boys went to a Waldorf school when they were toddlers for a special program they had, and I liked it for the most part. Some things were just a little too far from my own experience, which is why we switched to Montessori. It's great, though, that your son is adjusting well.

I hope to see more of you around here. Sending good thoughts your way!

Hi Rose,

Thanks. :) The Waldorf thing is different -- I'm not sure I entirely fit in, but the teaching style seems to work well for him. And for that, I'm very, very happy.

It's good to see you, too. I hope the babe is well. I mean the little one, not the man one. :)

Oh, jeez, Fran. I'm sorry to hear you've been going through all this; even an amicable divorce is tough. But it sounds like you're all adjusting and that's a very good thing. I've missed seeing you around!

Hey there,

I love that icon! Franboy is very into Calvin and Hobbes at the moment, and has been getting compilations of the comics out of the library. Which gives me the chance to re-read them. They're as funny as ever.

The divorce is not easy, but, it could be much, much worse. Thanks. :)

Glad to hear from you! I'm rapidly getting to the stage where I think, isn't everyone divorced?

Not *everyone*, but... It seems to be the time of life in some ways.

Glad to see you 'round here! I'm too lazy to do the meme just now but I've saved it.

Hope the boy loves his new school and does well.

Ropo-boppo,

Fralinda,

I'm so glad to see you here, as I've been worried about you, and it appears I was right to be, although it appears that you're doing quite well, all things considered.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{you and Franboy}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Don't be a stranger, m'dear. I miss you.

I'm doing ok. This has been good for me in many ways.

I've been thinking about you recently and wondering how things were going, so I'm glad to see you checking in here. Sorry to hear you've had to go through the bad stuff (been there, done that), but glad to hear that you and FranBoy are adjusting.

My oldest son had a really unpleasant, awkward time in public school and we were able to transfer him into a Montessori school, where he just blossomed. It was such a relief to see, so I'm really glad to hear that FranBoy no longer dreads going to school. That's a really good sign, believe me. Hope his progress continues.

I'm eternally grateful that franboy is happier at the new school. He struggles so much, it's good to see him making progress.

The bad stuff isn't so bad. It's not all fun, but it could be much worse.

Sometimes it's a big relief to be on your own rather than in the same room/house with someone you're not getting along with. I was so relieved when M was finally out of my hair. I could relax again, and the boys and I get along well. The atmosphere was so much nicer than when M was around, too.

That's about how I feel at this point. Home is relaxing now. Mr fran has many good qualities. But.
